Installation
Download the installer
Use the download link from your purchase confirmation email. Run Dilation-Installer.pkg.
Run the installer
The installer places the AAX plugin in /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/ and the VST3 in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/.
Launch your DAW
Relaunch Pro Tools or your VST3 host. Dilation appears in the AudioSuite menu under AudioSuite > Pitch Shift / Time Shift > Big Rip Dilation.
Activate via iLok
Open iLok License Manager. Your license will already be there after purchase — activate it to a machine. One-time activation, no internet required after this step.
Using Dilation in Pro Tools
Both Dilation and Dilation Pro install as offline, length-changing AAX AudioSuite processors — they render a new audio file rather than processing in real time.
- Highlight the audio clip or region you need to adjust on your track.
- Navigate to AudioSuite > Pitch Shift / Time Shift > Big Rip Dilation.
- Adjust your parameters (or draw your curves if using Dilation Pro).
- Use the Audition button to hear your changes with the stretch-aware playhead.
- Click Render to commit the length-changing processing to your timeline.
Pro Tip: Dilation handles background ambience beautifully. If you're stretching a line to fit an ADR gap, leave a frame of room tone on either side of the dialogue — the neural engine will stretch the noise floor seamlessly without adding digital warble.
Troubleshooting
Ensure Pro Tools 2020.3 or later. Go to Setup → Playback Engine and check plugin scanning, or rescan from the AudioSuite menu. Check the plugin folder: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/.
Allow a few minutes after purchase, then refresh iLok License Manager. Contact us with your order number if it still does not appear.
If your trial expires, the plugin enters read-only mode. Your presets are preserved — purchase and activate via iLok to resume full use.
Set stretch ratio exactly to 1.0× for a bypass. Report the specific ratio and source material type to our support email.
